This Seattle Design Festival installation grew out of a unique collaboration of talents: Architects Without Borders, Shelf Life Stories, Wa Na Wari, local musician Yirim Seck and local muralist Perri Rhoden. We were honored to contribute graphic design to the effort. Through the voices of today’s residents, Story Boards delves into a dark chapter of the Seattle Central District’s history that still reverberates today: discriminatory housing policies of redlining and subsequent gentrification. Story Boards asks visitors to confront uncomfortable truths, encouraging a collective reckoning with Seattle’s past to pave a more equitable future. The installation will make a second appearance at Walk The Block, hosted by Wa Na Wari.
