Playful illustrations depict construction elements as well as student life on campus: dorm living, study centers and classrooms. Husky dogs—the mascot of the university—pop up here and there, along with the pesky, ever-present squirrels that make the campus their home along with new students. The fence graphics are used and re-used for construction sites all around campus, creating a flexible system that enlivens inevitable pedestrian detours caused by construction sites.

“Studio Matthews continually outperforms expectations with their creative approach to problem solving, insightful understanding of the project needs, and clever balance of the functional requirements with visual appeal. Kristine has become a trusted resource who is fun to work with and is a respected partner in stewarding the great beauty of our campus.”
—Kristine Kenney, Director of Campus Design & Planning, University of Washington
