Launching Boys in the Boat UW Shell House project
March 28, 2022
Kristine Matthews will join Prof. Andrew Davidson and designer Plamena Milusheva in joint-directing an exploratory research project this spring at the University of Washington. Working with students from both the Division of Design and HCDE (Human Centered Design Engineering), the team will develop installation concepts in and around the historic UW Shell House. Brought to life in Dan Brown’s bestselling book The Boys in the Boat, the building not only housed the UW crew team that won the 1936 Olympics in Hitler-led Germany, but also contained the workshop of George Pocock, who designed some of the most innovative racing shells ever made.
