Design students reveal the housing and food crisis in Seattle
Taking inspiration from our work with Ballard Food Bank, Kristine challenged the students in her Exhibition Design course to research and design installations to highlight the food and housing crisis in Seattle. Jen Muzia, Executive Director of Ballard Food Bank, and Joy Portella, President of Minerva Strategies, helped to kick off this project, speaking to the students about access to essential resources in our city. As part of the project, the class was also challenged to re-purpose the circular structure the studio designed for our Vacant Seattle installation at the 2021 Seattle Design Festival. Student teams then visualized their concepts in real locations across Seattle, with some fantastic results!
